Epic Mega Grant
Tiger Motors is a proud recipient of an Epic MegaGrant for the project "Epic Unreal Lego Lab Project".
This project aims to help the students learn by utilizing Augmented Reality technologies and the capabilities of the Unreal Engine.Â
The current teaching approach is to purposely go through the operation and set up situations where the operation is out of standard with small details.Â
For example, it can be as simple as placing a red placket, which denotes a deviation when a non-standard occurs on a problem-solving matrix. This means that a specific task was supposed to be completed by a certain day, but that day has passed and is not completed. Â
Other examples include moving a chair that blocks the path of the fire extinguisher or taking a tool out of the shadow board, where the tool should be when it is not used.Â
We usually set up about 20 to 30 of these situations and ask the students to inspect the lab. The students have 15 to 20 minutes to walk through and report all the deviations to standards that they have found.Â
Typically, if we have set up 25 deviations, they may find about 12 to 14. This is due to the lack of training on being able to spot a deviation or because an operation may not be standardized well enough.
The project aims to use Augmented Reality technologies to help the students identify these deviations and assist them in the learning process.
